JJ CALE | Benmore Centre

JJ Cale Tobacconists opened their first store in Sandton City in 1973.  The store was named after the famous singer himself.  JJ Cale- Born John Weldon Cale on December 5, 1938 – July 26, 2013, in Oklahoma City, was a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter and musician. Cale is one of the originators of the Tulsa Sound, a loose genre drawing on blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz influences.   Also famous for his song “Cocaine”.

49 years later, JJ Cale Tobacconist has stores located in all the major Shopping Malls throughout Gauteng (mainly based in Johannesburg and Pretoria), Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
